In addition to founding the online magazine Design Milk, L.A.-based artist Jaime Derringer creates original acrylic paintings by layering colorful paints with varying line weights and textures to create depth and movement. Colorful and dynamic, Jaime's pieces are unique in their brash use of color and playful energy.
We are pleased to showcase original Jaime Derringer paintings exclusively at Consort.

My work is an exploration of shape and color, using layering as a guide. Everything is unplanned and completely intuitive—each mark is a response to its predecessor. The repetition of shapes and lines is an exercise used to escape from everything else around me. I'm a believer in embracing happy accidents and approaching each piece as an experiment. My inspiration includes my study of the Japanese language, electronic music, celebrations/parties, fireworks, space exploration and sci-fi, undersea creatures, as well as architecture.
