Brooklyn-based artist Caris Reid painted "Questioning Eyes" with water-based acrylic on panel. The eyes mysteriously float in a purple space that appears to move like water. A saturated palette uses flat planes of color, repetition and symmetry to create a piece that is at once meditative and moving.

Caris Reid was born in Washington D.C. and currently lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. She holds a BFA from Boston University, where she graduated Cum Laude. Her work has been shown in numerous solo and group exhibitions in New York, Berlin, Austin, Cleveland and Boston.
Caris' most often creates portraits depicting emotional or psychological moments as a likeness to her subjects. Usually depicting solo figures, often in moments of reflection, and the mood is often subtly (or not so subtly) leaning towards the otherworldly. Caris seeks moments of transcendence through the practice of studying and painting others.
