Born in Cyprus to a family steeped in the international intelligence community, Angelo spent his childhood witnessing the geopolitical crisis brought to the region through democratization and oligarchy. Educated in Albania, Angelo became fascinated by the effects of global trade and finance in the port and shipping systems of the Mediterranean and the often-overlooked collateral damage. Often lacking diverse economic systems, several rural Eastern European communities suffer major poverty and loss as a result of lost logistics contracts from major global industries. The result is a massive movement of entire sub cultures to different regions within the EU. These modern-day gypsy migrant workers are more educated, more flexible, and more ruthless at securing employment in the digital age. This flux and movement is the core of Angelo’s work. Within pain, within struggle one can still find beauty. The mark-making of his brush strokes and minimal form are attempts to capture a sense of place and time within the viewer’s aesthetic.
