Studio Manager

Consort is seeking a Studio Manager to join their Los Angeles-based interior design firm. This position will ensure that design studio operates at its highest potential in all areas including operations, profitability, and culture. Ideal candidate is highly organized with with an entrepreneurial spirit and thrives in a fast-paced working environment.


  • Design and implement office policies by establishing standards and procedures, measuring results against standards, and make necessary adjustments.

  • Maintain office services by organizing office operations and procedures, preparing payroll, controlling correspondence, designing filing systems, reviewing and approving supply requisitions, and monitoring clerical functions.

  • Achieve financial objectives by preparing an annual budget, scheduling expenditures, analyze variances, and initiate corrective actions.

  • Define procedures for retention, protection, retrieval, transfer, and disposal of records.

  • Maintain office efficiency by planning and implementing office systems, layouts, and equipment procurement.

  • Lead weekly operations meeting, keeping management informed by reviewing and analyzing budgets, presenting profit and loss reports summarizing information, and identifying trends.

  • Maintain office staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees, as well as human resource coordination including liaising between payroll and benefits program.

  • Maintain a general understanding and oversight of project timelines as well as prepare project status reports.

  • Develop systems for maintaining coordination with accountant and bookkeeper.

  • Oversee Expeditor and ordering for various projects.

  • Oversee invoicing and billing with bookkeeper.

  • Coordinate payroll with payroll processor.

  • Ensure company software and IT remain up-to-date and functional at all times.

  • Coordinate travel for team.


  • 3+ years prior management experience in interior design or related field

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited, four year university

  • Must be highly organized with ability to prioritize multiple tasks.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced working environment and be a part of a highly motivated team.
