Consort is seeking a Managing Director to plan, direct, and oversee the company’s operational policies, budgets, initiatives, and planning functions. The ideal candidate will provide strategic and tactical financial leadership to support and reinforce the company’s overall business plans, which include managing current locations in addition to expanding and opening new locations in major U.S. cities.

The brand’s cutting edge-classic look draws consumers who enjoy a trend-driven lifestyle and specializes in fashionably edgy home goods with a heightened sense of style.
This position reports directly to the company’s co-founders and is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to join a young, fast-growing, creative startup in the home space. Applicants should have a strong understanding of the home market and senior level management experience in retail, e-commerce and design.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee daily operations, supply chain, merchandising, retail store, finance/accounting/HR departments to execute company initiatives.
Develop and provide operating and financial metrics, trend identification and analysis, performance assessments and feedback - translate analysis into actionable information.
Oversee financial reporting, cash flow management and vendor communications.
Manage and report on company’s cash position and other key indicators.
Manage funds/bank accounts.
Coordinate client billing summaries, invoicing, and client deposits application.
Invoicing to include design hours, reimbursements, furnishings approvals, etc.
Facilitate client communication regarding financial updates.
Liaise with accountant and Studio Webware consultant for preparations of quarterly projections and year-end financial closings.
Prepare and pay monthly and quarterly sales tax with assistance from bookkeepers.
Facilitate resolution of Studio Webware issues.
Oversee credit card reconciliations with bookkeepers.
Oversee operational expenses - contracts, service agreements, payments, cost-control, etc.
Establish project status meetings with design team.
Assist in maintaining office focus and productivity.
Oversee shipping and logistics of retail and e-commerce operations.
Oversee omnichannel inventory management system of e-commerce platform.
Develop strategic and operational plan with defined performance standards, metrics and action plans that can be tracked against timelines to evaluate organizational performance.
Measure effectiveness and efficiency of operational processes both internally and externally and find ways to improve processes.
Assist in recruiting skilled talent and keeping the best employees, including employee mentoring.
Calculate and process bi-weekly payroll.
Update and finalize office manual.
Provide new hire orientation.
Manage staff PTO requests and scheduling.
Maintain hard copy and digital personnel files.
Interface with benefits administrator for benefits management
Schedule staff reviews.
Assist with office morale, etiquette, and conduct.
Provide and coordinate training and development - continuing education, seminars, etc.
Direct operations for all locations and new openings, setting standard operating procedures, training staff, and ensuring brand consistency.
Facilitate landlord and owner communication.
Coordinate with IT support team for issues and updates that arise.
Assess capital purchases, leases, phone systems, etc.
Generate contracts for new clients.
Develop ongoing business plan.
Identify e-commerce opportunities.
Evaluate outside support services (e.g. bank, legal, accounting, etc.).
Identify + manage client expectations.
Manage e-commerce initiative.
Assess company’s strengths, niches.
Senior management experience in operations and logistics within a high volume retail distribution environment , preferably furniture and/or home goods.
Bachelor’s degree, MBA strongly preferred.
Ability to create and analyze P&L reports, expense controls, and validate processes of KPI measurements.
Ability to pursue multiple goals, analyze complex issues, facilitate change in response to a dynamic environment, and communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
Proficient in Quickbooks, Xero Accounting, Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Platform.
Excellent interpersonal, communications, and presentation skills.
